On this day of Thanksgiving, when millions of Americans recall their blessings, I count myself among the grateful.
As a writer I am thankful for the sky that daily changes and lifts my spirit and alters my mood, and inspires some new thought and new feeling within me.
I am grateful for trees that breeze and whisper, causing me to pause and think on some new thing.
I am grateful for dark-leaded pencils that record my words and the reporter’s notebooks, slim and purse-friendly, that keep all my stray thoughts in a safe place until I can return to them.
I am thankful for every emotion – from happiness to rage – that opens my heart and finds its way to my page.
And I am thankful for the world, for as it turns, there is no shortage of ideas or opinions, or stories and plot lines, heroes and zeros, the fanciful and the flawed who spark ideas and set my imagination to spinning.
This Thanksgiving, I wish the same for you all.
